Assistantship Program

EADE offers assistantship positions for up to two technique training classes. EADE seeks to place one dancer in the role of “assistant” in each Technique Training I, II, and III, Foundations, and Mini Team.

Assistants will be responsible for preparing equipment for class, assisting in managing front desk paperwork, leading class warm-up, demonstrating movement and technical concepts, accommodating student requests, supporting student development relevant to the class genre, fulfilling teacher requests, and returning equipment following class. Assistants must participate in the Technique Training III or IV and train in the technique class genre in which he/she assists. For example, if the dancer assists in Ballet I, he/she must train in the Ballet II technique class. Assistants must attend the Assistantship Training on July 1, 2024 from 9:00-12:00 to train in the responsibilities of an assistant. Students must register to participate. Assistants must complete an application during the assistant workshop. Answers will be used in consideration for the position.

Assistants will to expected to

  • attend assistant training
  • submit an assistant application via Google Form  and receive an offer of position form EADE
  • fulfill all obligations to EADE Team Pathway and/or the Technique Training Pathway,  and the above assistant responsibilities
  • represent EADE as a role model who upholds and embodies EADE values
  • communicate absences the 15th the month prior to the absence via a written notice (Assistants will be permitted three written notice absences. More than three written absences, unplanned or uncommunicated absences, or failure to meet the above expectations will result in the dancer’s removal from the assistant position.)

Assistant positions will be offered to students with an interest in teaching, with a dedicated attitude, and with a relentless work ethic. EADE considers the dancer’s attendance and performance in the Team or Technique Pathways; the dancer’s ability to positively support his/her peers and complete teacher requests quickly; and the number of potential conflicts which prevent dancers’ ability to fulfill obligations. Dancers will receive mentoring in developing teaching techniques during their time as an assistant. Dancers who exceed expectations of the assistant role for at least two years will be considered for full class teaching roles.
